Supply Connection for New Building

Temporary supply

If you are considering a new construction project and your electricity plan has been approved by the government authorities, you may need temporary supply for your building project.

 

Documents to be presented:

  • Copy of applicant identification [1] and copy of business registration issued within the latest 3 months if the applicant name is a company;
  • Map of scale 1:1000 of the site location proposed for the temporary switchboard;
  • Description in one A4 page with the requested subscribed demand (kVA), residual operating current (mA) of circuit breaker, short-circuit breaking capacity (kA) of the incoming circuit breaker, purpose of the supply (building construction, foundations works), and period for the use of temporary supply;
  • Schematic electrical diagram of temporary switchboard installation;
  • Declaration of Electrical Technician (with his/her ID copy);
  • Copy of license for foundation works, building construction or public infrastructures works issued by Lands, Public Works & Transport Bureau (DSSOPT)

 

Charges:

  • Connection charges according to the following types of temporary installations:
    • New building construction [2]
    • Public Infrastructures works
  • Deposit according to the requested subscribed demand

 

Time required:

  • The connection of the requested temporary supply depends on the approval of electrical installation on the site, payment of the respective charges and nature of CEM job.
  • Low Voltage supply can be completed in 10 working days after obtaining IACM license.
  • Medium Voltage supply can be completed in 30 calendar days after customer substation (PT) civil works passed the acceptance of work.

[2] Connection charges are only applicable to Medium Voltage supply, and for increase of power demand (either in Medium Voltage or Low Voltage) for already installed temporary supply.

New building

If your project has been approved by the relevant government authorities, you can now approach us to plan the connection of the new building to the electricity supply network.

 

Documents to be presented:

  • Copy of applicant identification [1] and copy of business registration issued within the last 3 months if the applicant name is a company;
  • 1(one) copy of map of the site location with scale of 1:1000 and one copy in digital file;
  • 1(one) copy of the Electrical Project (including descriptive report, drawings, attributed demand list, etc.) with rubber stamp as approved by Lands, Public Works & Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) and one copy in digital file (PDF);
  • 1(one) copy of the building construction license issued by DSSOPT and one copy in digital file;
  • 1 (one) copy of Building Premises Description, with rubber stamp as approved by DSSOPT and one copy in digital file (excel);
  • Declaration of Electrical Contractor (with his/her ID copy).

 

Charges:

  • Connection charges calculated based on subscribed demand for the building and according to the Administrative Regulation no. 11/2005 of July 18 and Executive Order no. 31/2005 of July 18.

 

Time required:

  • CEM engineering works will be carried out after payment of respective charges, conclusion and approval of the works under constructor responsibility (communal electrical installation, service entrance cables, and civil construction of distribution substation room if required) and CEM job license issued by the respective government bureau. Then the new building will be connected to the network within 60 calendar days.
  • CEM is open to discuss with the applicant for a more convenient and acceptable schedule for both sides.

 

Inspection of low voltage installation before energization:

Before the energization to a new building, contractor shall contact CEM to arrange an installation inspection with submitting the below document:

CEM will contact the contractor for onsite inspection upon receiving the above document.

Removal of electrical infrastructure

If you need to demolish a building or facility, contact us beforehand to remove the existing electrical infrastructure.

 

Documents to be presented:

  • Copy of applicant identification [1] and copy of business registration issued within the last 3 months if the applicant name is a company;
  • 2(two) copies of map of the site location with scale of 1:1000;
  • 1(one) copy of license for demolishing, renovation, foundation or construction works issued by Lands, Public Works & Transport Bureau (DSSOPT), if necessary.

 

Charges:

Applicants will be informed on the job costs incurred, if any. In accordance with the price list approved by MSAR.

 

Time required:

Depends on the nature and dimension of the job to be carried out by CEM. But in generally 20 days for Low Voltage/Public Lighting (IP) and 30 days for Medium Voltage after obtaining IACM license.
